Are you dreaming of buying your first home?

Buying your first home is one of the most exciting things you will do! There’s so much to think about such as what type of property you want, your budget and location. Although it’s exciting, it’s very important to understand the process from start to finish.

Here are our simple four steps to help get you moving:

1) Funds – Purchasing the property

When looking at houses for sale, you will need to get your finances in order so you can be ready to put an offer on a property. Firstly, you will need to save for a deposit, as this will allow you to determine how much money you are able to lend on a mortgage. You will also need to obtain a mortgage in principle. The estate agent will ask to see your Mortgage agreement in principle when you make an offer on a property, including your photo ID and proof of where your deposit is.

2) Conveyancing – Choosing a Solicitor

You will need to instruct a solicitor to deal with all the legal paperwork once your offer has been accepted on a property. You will need to provide the estate agent with your chosen solicitors, to start the process. It’s advised to get a few quotes so you can compare them and see which quote works for you.

3) Property Search – Start looking for your dream home!

This is the most exciting part, searching for your dream home! You can start your search by using the online portals such as Rightmove, Zoopla and OntheMarket. These portals are fantastic as you can register you details for property alerts, which will alert you as soon as new properties are available. If you know the area where you would like to move too, its worth registering your details with local estate agents. Therefore, when they get new properties that match your requirements, you will be informed straight away!
